Abstract: his thesis addresses the topic of "Risk Management Assessment According to ISO 31000 Standard in Public Works Companies," with a practical application to the project for the construction of the Eastern Mining Railway Line carried out by COSIDER TP – Eastern Division. The study aims to highlight the extent to which the company adheres to the principles and foundations of modern risk management and to assess the effectiveness of this implementation in controlling project threats and improving overall performance. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part covers general concepts of risk management, the international standard ISO 31000:2018 and its core components, as well as methodological tools used in analysis and evaluation such as the QQOQCCP and 5M techniques, the Fault Tree, and the Ishikawa Diagram. The practical part is based on the collection and analysis of field data related to the project, identifying 60 potential risks and assessing each using a five-level scale for likelihood of occurrence and severity of impact. The evaluation results showed that the company applies the standard adequately in stages such as context establishment, risk identification, analysis, and evaluation. However, it suffers from clear weaknesses in the stages of “consultation and communication” and “monitoring and review,” which limits the effectiveness of the risk management system. The study recommends activating continuous consultation mechanisms with stakeholders and strengthening the processes of tracking and regularly updating risk reports. This study represents both a scientific and field-based contribution to guiding public works companies toward improving their risk management practices in alignment with international standards.
