dc.description.abstract This Study tends to investigate the importance of using collaborative learning in enhancing learners’ speaking skill. Accordingly we hypothesized that ; if teachers use cooperative learning technique in the oral expression course; then learners will feel more comfortable to use English spontaneously and their speaking skill will be enhanced. The study was carried out in t the English Department of Guelma University during the Academic year (2017- 2018).To test our hypothesis. The research work administered two questionnaires, one for third year LMD students and another one for teachers from the department. The method of this research is descriptive. That is, it aims to describe two aspects: cooperative learning as the independent variable, and its benefits in developing learners’ oral proficiency as the dependent variable .The findings from this research provide evidence that cooperative group work is the one of the most appropriate technique for developing students’ language use and increasing their class room oral participation in interactional environment. The main conclusion drawn from this study has shown that using cooperative learning help third year LMD students in developing their self-confidence and enhancing their speaking skill. Finally, this study recommended some suggestions for teachers to guide them for effectively implementing this technique, and others for students that may help them to improve their speaking skill. en_US
