dc.description.abstract |
The current study attempts to investigate the use of authentic materials in enhancing EFL learners’ intercultural communication. This investigation aims at exploring the impact of the utilization of authentic materials in enhancing EFL learners’ intercultural communication.
It intends to figure out teachers’ consciousness vis-à-vis the integration of the appropriate materials to fit the students’ needs and interests, as well as promote their cultural awareness. ‘Mainly, it attempts to raise teachers’ awareness about the value of incorporating real-world materials to teach the target culture, which may elevate students’ intercultural communicative competence. Thus, it is hypothesized that teachers use authentic materials appropriately, EFL learners’ intercultural communication may improve. To prove the aforementioned hypothesis and answer the research questions, a quantitative descriptive method will be followed through administering a well-structured questionnaire. First year master students of English language from 8 Mai 1945 University of Guelma formed the sample of the research. The finding results indicate that students are conscious about the importance of using authentic materials in EFL classrooms in order to boost their intercultural communication. Hence, it is highly recommended that the use of authentic materials enhances learners’ intercultural communication via giving the real-life examples since they close the gap between the classroom and the outside world and infuse the classroom with reality |
