Résumé:
Since EFL students have fewer opportunities to be exposed to authentic learning experiences, they face many challenges in developing their four language skills; listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In this regard, the present dissertation seeks to investigate EFL students' attitudes towards the impact of English movies on proficiency improvement. In order to achieve the aims of the study and to have an in-depth analysis of the research hypotheses, a quantitative method in which a questionnaire was administered online to third-year students (N=93), at the Department of English, University of 8 Mai 1945, Guelma. The analysis of the obtained data confirms the main hypothesis, which implies that EFL students have positive attitudes towards the impact of watching English movies on developing their English proficiency. Also, the findings revealed that students are aware of the role played by English movies in developing their receptive and productive skills. Accordingly, teachers need to encourage their students to watch English movies and consider incorporating it into EFL classrooms to promote autonomous learning. Additionally, pedagogical implications and suggestions for further researchers were also provided.
