dc.description.abstractThe gravity of school shootings in the United States has reached a point where it demands urgent attention and action at all levels, especially when adolescents are involved as primary participants. The present study delves into the rising incidents of school shootings and the debate surrounding gun legislation by providing an in-depth overview of the issue while also examining the nature of American culture and the theory behind gun violence on school grounds in the country. People’s safety remains compromised because the government continues to grapple with the challenge of effectively addressing and mitigating gun violence. This research investigates the reasons behind these recurrent happenings and the motivations that drive the perpetrators, often adolescents, to carry out these attacks. This dissertation examines the impact of the shootings on the government and people. Next, it provides a detailed overview of the most prominent cases of school shootings which are the Columbine High School shooting and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting and the changes they left on the U.S. This study concludes by the country’s current impasse regarding how to best curtail or at least minimize the damage caused by this dreadful issue.en_US
