The present dissertation is intended to study women’s representation in US Congress during the 21stcentury. It aims at investigating whether the actual state of gender equality goes hand in hand as in theory within a highly democratic and pluralistic nation like USA. Similarly, it examines women’s chances to hold equal opportunities to involve in policymaking and checking whether these chances are similar to that of men or not. As well, it scrutinizes the relationship between women beliefs, experiences, and political actions. The study attempts to identify the reasons behind the so-called ‘gender gap’. The issue of women representation analyzed via three approaches which are the descriptive, analytical, and the historical one to facilitate the understanding of the issueen_US
