Abstract: The present work is devoted to the synthesis and study of spectroscopic properties of oxyfluoride glass doped with Er3+ of the system SiO2 PbF2PbO ,where we analyzed and studied the spectroscopic properties of this sample using the semi-empirical Judd-Ofelt theory (J-O). We calculated the Judd-Ofelt parameters (Ωt=2, 4, 6) these parameters are smaller than other glasses compared which indicates a lower stiffness of the medium ,a lower covalence of the Er-O bond, and asymmetry around the Er3+ site. The Judd-Ofelt parameters allowed us to obtain the probabilities of radiative transitions between different excited energy levels of the 4fN electronic shell, the branching ratios of different transitions, as well as the radiative lifetimes of the main emission levels, in particular for the transition from the metastable level 4I13/2 to the fundamental level 4I15/2 of the Er3+ ion, compared to other glasses doped with Er3+. In this study, we also approached the structural properties through the X-ray analytical study (XRD) and emphasized the amorphous structure of the manufactured glass. The obtained results suggest the usefulness of glass for laser applications and optical amplifiers, at 1512 nm and 543 nm wavelenght.
