Abstract: | This study aims at investigating the status of e-learning in the Algerian context through exploring the perspectives of learners from different departments at the University 8 Mai 1945-Guelma. The research uses a descriptive-quantitative method. The sample of this study is composed of 148 students from all levels in different departments at the University 8 Mai 1945-Guelma. It analyzes the perspectives of the participants towards e-learning using a questionnaire as the primary data collection tool. The results of this study show the inability of Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to switch to e-learning as a supplement tool to conventional learning. Also, it shows the lack of technological infrastructure to sustain this change. Furthermore, students find critical technical issues and hardships when shifting to the e-learning approach and using the Moodle platform, in addition to the poor awareness about the importance of e-learning of both teachers and learners. The research ends with suggesting some recommendations to improve the status of e-learning in Algeria. |
