In recent years, smart universities have realized that ‘an innovative environment generates an innovative culture’’. Universities have recognized the advantages of integrating IoT for energy efficiency, improved security, and other objectives. Experts estimate that the global IoT in education market size will expand 11,3 billion dollars by 2023, due mainly to (i) the increased use of connected objects in academic institutions, (ii) rapid adoption of e-learning tools and (iii) the wide availability of solutions based on new information technologies and cloud computing.
This work is positioned within this framework and with the vision of making a “smart campus”, with the goals of (i) utilizing the IoT, data fusion and exploration, cloud computing, semantic web technologies, and other information technologies, and (ii) highlighting the integration of independent information systems, heterogeneous data, and their analyses in order to satisfy the university community. |
